About Kanto

Tokyo is the main gateway to Kanto, with rail and bus links to Yokohama, Kamakura, Nikko and Hakone. After flying from Hong Kong, spend time in the city before exploring nearby areas. Lake Kawaguchi is in Yamanashi Prefecture and can be reached by highway bus from Shinjuku.

  • Time differenceJapan is one hour ahead of Hong Kong, with no daylight saving time.
  • EntryHKSAR passport holders may visit Japan visa-free for up to 90 days. Work and other long-term purposes require the appropriate visa.

  • PowerKanto uses 100V, 50Hz electricity and Type A outlets. Hong Kong plugs need an adaptor; check that appliances support 100V.
